Wilson's popularity travelled into the US in 2014 when she starred as a character on Showtimes The Affair. She performed the role of Alison Lockhart, a young woman who has a difficult background and falls in love with Noah Solloway. Wilson was awarded an Golden Globe Award for Best Actress of the Television Series in Drama 2015, along with Mauratierney and Joshua Jackson. Wilson in an interview with British Vogue back in 2015 told British Vogue that she loved playing characters from two different perspective. Noah perceives Alison as a attractive, sexy and confident model. In reality, however, Alison views herself as unattractive. She stated: America has become so moralistic and judgmental that what happens on the show are alarming. Wilson, who left The Simpsons in 2018 wasn't forthcoming about the reasons. In an interview on CBS This Morning Interview in August of 2018, Wilson stated, "I did want to go but I can't talk about why." A Little Stranger More recently Wilson has turned to more film roles. Wilson was a part of the 2016 horror film I Am the Pretty Thing that Lives in the house, and also played the mysterious PT Stella character in the 2017 sci-fi rom com How to Talk to Girls in Parties. Wilson will add another horror film to her list of credits as she appears in the British version of The Little Stranger, a supernatural thriller that is based on the novel of Sarah Waters. Wilson is also the executive producer of the movie.
